I've been traveling a few weeks in France and Germany and yesterday night i arrived by bus in a city called Karlovy Vary (in Czech republic)
When i was in France/Germany i didn't feel an overwhelming sense that i was in a foreign country. For reference I'm originally from Colorado, so yeah French/German architecture, culture are vastly different than the US.
But last night when i arrived, the very hospitable Czech motel owner taught me some Czech phrases, i walked to the grocery store and people were obviously conversating and laughing in what I assume to be Czech.
So today when i woke up, it now just sort of hit me that I'm not in Colorado anymore. I'm halfway around the world, in a country that half of Americans probably couldn't locate on a map. And I'm just beginning to embrace the feeling of being a fish out of water, with different customs, different values, different ways of doing things
Guess that's the excitement of traveling..
