I'm looking to spend one month in Europe in one city (or one area more broadly), and get to know it a bit better. I'm a single, mid-20s man from Canada and would prefer to keep the per month cost under 1200EUR for the space if possible (although please let me know if this is unreasonable for a 1bdrm for a month). I know I can Google this but I'm trying to see where travellers and other people feel this would be worth doing.
I've spent some time in London and Madrid before, with a smattering of time in other cities like Paris, Rome, etc. It doesn't have to be a major city (like it could be Toulouse or Manchester or Malaga if you feel those are the best answers), but should still be a city. It would be nice if the city was LGBT+-friendly, but not too romantic. It would also be nice if it is well connected, so I could visit other cities or towns on day-trips or weekend trips while there.
I would rather it be in a country where I speak the language (so UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal, Western Switzerland, Italy, Southern Belgium), but it could also be in a place where they speak English really well (like Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, or other countries). The exception to this is Greece - my Greek is ass but I would be open to recommendations for it.
