Hi reddit. This is my first time posting in a sub but I'm kinda grasping at straws here and am hoping for some reassurance.
I 24M am currently in Cuba with my girlfriend, we are Canadian, and are staying in Cayo Coco. Our power just went out in our resort for about an hour and I quickly learned that the entire country is in a massive fuel shortage and I just saw a headline stating that they will be out of fuel for airlines within 24 hours??
For context, we're traveling with Sunwing, and they haven't made any communication or comments regarding this, and we are getting a bit concerned we may end up stranded with no way home (optimistic, I know).
How much responsibility will be on us and how much will be on the airline to get us home? In a worst case scenario, what would that potentially look like? Any help and experience would be greatly appreciated
