What are some unexpected kindred spirit countries/regions for you, and why?

Whether you have visited the place or not, which do you feel strangely connected to and why?

From an English perspective, I have a few candidates.

The first one is the American South. Lots of things are different. But we share greenery, honeysuckle, a love for gardening, literature, music, manners, traditions and tea. Both cultures also seem to have an appreciation for desserts, especially puddings, pies and crumbles/cobblers.

The second one is Hawaii. Not for the tropical weather. But we both seem to appreciate and have a lot of greenery, fragrant flowers and gardens. Long maritime traditions and varied cliffs/beaches. Hawaii also had a monarch, we still have one. Both places get lots of rainfall and humidity, and both are small in size so easy to travel around.

The third one is Asturias in Spain. The lush green landscapes, cows chilling on the hills, the variety in cheese, seafood and cider, historic towns and villages, dramatic cliffs and beaches. Cloudy weather, rain, humidity and cool temperatures. Some Asturias towns/villages also have red roofs and white exteriors, not unlike the fishing villages in Yorkshire. It just seems like a familiar countryside scenery.

They all feel oddly relatable, for different reasons.
