US to Canada - expired passport

Flying NY to Toronto CA. My flight is in an hour, I'm already in the airport, and somehow made it through TSA (??) with an expired passport.

Should I get on my flight? How much of an issue will I have at customs to allow me into Canada?

EDIT: I have a current non-expired passport - that I left home. The one I have with me, that's expired, was stolen a few years ago - so I reported it stolen and got a replacement passport. I managed to get this stolen passport back a few months later, and is the one I took with me today by mistake instead of the new replacement passport.

UPDATE:

I decided not to risk having to fly back if denied entry in Canada, so switched to a different flight for tomorrow morning and am currently on my way home from the airport. The event I am going to only begins in the late afternoon anyway, figured it'd be less stressful this way.

Thank you all for your responses! I am curious what would've actually happened if I went through with it.

(Honorable mention -- switching my flight took only 10 minutes via United app, the messaging help center. No added fees or charges. Very very pleasantly surprised)
