I have a name like MacDonald. No space, MacDonald. I renewed my passport this year. Until I was flying home from Canada- had to leave early and bought a ticket the day before, I didn’t realize that on my new passport, my name is Mac Donald. I probably wouldn’t have noticed at all but I had to update my profile with Delta and got an error, “name on passport doesn’t match name on ticket”.
How I got there. I am a US citizen, I flew from home to Anchorage where I boarded a cruise to Vancouver. (Name issue wasn’t noticed by cruise line). I was then supposed to fly from Vancouver to Hawaii and then home but due to the hurricane warnings, cancelled Hawaii and rescheduled to fly home from Vancouver instead. I called Delta who kindly added the space on my ticket so my documents matched to get home.
Now, I need to fix it. I found the name error online and will fill it out with documentation. Since its their error, it’s supposed to be free to correct. Has anyone ever done this and what was your experience? I’m wondering how long and annoying this will be.
