The peaceful small historic town of Hagi, Japan

Out of everywhere I have visited in japan, the small historic town of Hagi in Yamaguchi Prefecture is one of my favourite places. It is not near any major touristy cities and takes a while to get to, but it’s well worth going. Due to its remoteness, there was not a single foreign tourist the entire 2 days I was there, so it is extremely quiet and peaceful. It might be busier in summer I am not sure since I went in December but it’s great to visit during winter at least. It was about 8 degrees I think so it wasn’t even cold. There are loads of various historic streets and temples which were very fun to take photos of, and it’s surrounded by beautiful peaceful coastal scenery and mountains. It is not just one pretty street like many historic towns in japan, there are historic buildings everywhere in the town, you can wander down any random street and there’s loads of beautiful architecture. I recommend it to everyone that wants some quiet relaxation away from the big cities whilst also being able to experience the beauty of Japan.
