We spent 8 days in Syria back in June and it was one of my favorite trips of recent memory. Flew to Amman and took a car to Damascus. We used a guide and driver and saw Damascus, Maloula, Basra, Krak des Chevaliers, Homs, Latakia, and Aleppo.
It was truly amazing to be walking the steps of the Apostle Paul in Damascus, seeing the ancient amphitheater at Busra, and wandering around the beautiful crusader castle of Krak des Chevaliers.
It was a much easier trip than I thought it would be (only partially because we had a guide), and the only danger we felt was the fear of a vehicle crash due to the poor driving and passing habits of motorists.
Happy to answer any questions people may have.
