A year of a half ago I did a volunteer abroad type program in Oaxaca, México, where I volunteered my art skills and painted my first ever mural. I lived on the top floor of a sweet woman’s house and I spoke Spanish with her often. It was life changing and I’ve been craving to go back and do another solo adventure in Mexico again. I loved Oaxaca sooo much. the food, the size of the town (not too city but not too rural), the people.
right now I’m in Antigua Guatemala and I do love it but I miss the happy chaos of oaxaca, the fireworks, the constant parades in the street, the murals, the energy. Antigua seems a bit like Oaxaca but more toned down which is nice and calm but I find myself craving that music in the street feeling of Oaxaca.
what places in Mexico do you suggest which somebody who loves Oaxaca would also love? Also I am a female gringa traveler so must be safe.
EDIT: I’ve already been to San Miguel de Allende, Morelia, Querétaro, and CDMX so I wanna go somewhere different than those.
