My wife and I often travel with another couple, and we’ve had some amazing trips together. We’re now planning a Mexico getaway, but this time we’re at a bit of a crossroads.
I’m really hoping for warm ocean water, some beach downtime, and maybe a little light exploring—so naturally, the Caribbean side (Playa del Carmen, Tulum, etc.) is calling my name.
But the other couple is leaning toward Puerto Vallarta or Mazatlán because they’re drawn to the culture, scenery, and Pacific sunsets.
This is honestly the first time I’ve felt frustrated with our group travel planning. Am I overthinking how much better the beaches and water are on the Caribbean side? Should I stand firm or compromise?
Would love to hear thoughts from folks who’ve been to both sides of Mexico—especially if you’ve traveled with friends and had to navigate these kinds of preferences.
