Hello,
I just wanted to share some photos and description of my current stay in Scotland.
I had high expectations, but it still exceeded them by far!
So long story short: 11 days in total, within that: 8 with a car (3 days Glen Coe, 3 days Skye, 1 day Inverness, 1 day Aberdeen) + 3 days in Edinburgh.
Main points:
* Even though I come from Switzerland, visited many beautiful countries, and thought that regarding nature there will be not much that can surprise me, I was truly amazed. Starting from Highlands I was driving with my jaw dropped and it was for the whole car trip. Every inch of Scotland looks stunning, out of this world
* some people recommended that I should avoid Skye and Glencoe as they are tourist traps and soooo full. I have to hard disagree, even though it was very high season in the middle of August. Of course there were people, it was harder to park the car on Skye (but of course only by few main attractions, other places were easy), you had to drive carefully and let the people go on narrow roads, but generally speaking - not that bad as I was scared by others. Only really sick place was for me Glenfinnan viaduct (Harry Potter train), like thousands of cars, but still - I waited calmly for the next window and it was no problem then (13:05 instead of 10:45)
* Midges - the weather was very good (for Scotland), but I had problems with midges only once, while in Glen Etive. And even then I haven’t used smidge or head net), just get few bites but that’s about it
* people were generally very nice, always helpful and caring
* Edinburgh- beautiful city, probably become one of my favorites if not favorite. Amazing architecture and even MASSIVE crowds due to Fringe haven’t changed that. Both outskirts and city center are very neat, clean, elegant. Pure class.
If you have any questions let me know!
