Restorative week in Yucatan, Mexico

I chose yucatan due to the proximity from Canada. It is a low hassle trip to plan and definitely one of the most travelled destinations.

I stayed in Merida and Valladolid for 5 days and chose to be in Playa del carmen for 2 days. Went to cozumel for snorkelling, which was amazing.

Highlights- The ruins, cenotes, food and some really cool people in hostel stays. I rented a bike for a day in valladolid to go to Cenote Xkekken and it turned out to be a nice little adventure.

Mayan history sent me into a curious rabbit hole.

Tips- Make the most of early mornings as past 2pm it almost always showers here. I struggled to keep clothes dry to reuse due to the insane heat and showers.

Playa is definitely very touristy and expensive. I lucked out with a great tour for snorkelling, cost $60 Cad for 5 hours to 3 spots. As a non swimmer they really took care of me. No pictures for snorkelling as they charge 500 mxn pesos for 5-6 underwater pictures. Street food and restaurant food was not much different in prices.

Panuchos, Enchiladas, Ceviches and Chilaquiles- I could not get enough of those.

ADO buses are so comfortable. You can do a road trip of entire mexico with it.

All in all, happy to visit but not a place i would visit again :)
