Prague -> Cesky Krumlov -> Salzburg -> Budapest: Need advice on "experience-heavy" Central Europe route

Hi everyone! My husband and I are planning a trip to Central Europe in May 2026. We’ve done a big European loop before (Paris, Amalfi Coast, Florence, Rome, and Barcelona). We absolutely loved the Italian and French legs of that trip, but honestly, we didn't vibe with Barcelona.

For this trip, we want a balance: 2 vibrant cities (Prague & Budapest) and 1 nature-centric base (Salzburg). We’re all about "experiences" rather than just checking off monuments.

Our Current Route:

\- Prague (4 Days): Focus on the history and the vibe.

Cesky Krumlov (1 Night): A stopover to break up the journey. (And also halfway to Salzburg)

\- Salzburg (3-4 Days): Our nature hub. Planning a day trip to Hallstatt and maybe some Alpine hiking/cable cars.

\- Budapest (4 Days): Ending with the baths and the ruin bar scene.

A few questions for the experts here:

\- Logistics- What’s the most seamless way to get from Cesky Krumlov to Salzburg? We’ve seen mention of "CK Shuttle" vs. taking the train through Linz. Since we’re on a "fun/experience" trip, is a private shuttle worth the cost to save time?

\- Hallstatt Day Trip: Is Hallstatt doable as a day trip from Salzburg in May? Are there "quieter" Alpine nature alternatives near Salzburg that offer that same stunning lake/mountain vibe?

\- What are the experiences for a couple in these cities? We loved the food in Italy and the atmosphere of Paris. We’re thinking thermal baths in Budapest and maybe a medieval-themed dinner or jazz club in Prague? Or beer spas

\- Weather/Rain: We know May can be rainy. Should we do 1st 15 days of May or second half of May?

Would love any critiques on then route or suggestions for hidden gems! Thanks in advance!
