Booked and paid for a car rental through Avis in full and thought everything was good until I received an email stating the confirmation and charge. To my surprise, the charges stated in the email were higher than what was paid. I went to do a double take on the website and app and turns out I was charged more than what I actually paid. No modifications to the reservation, just a claim stating that I ower money now.
Luckily for me, I took a screenshot of my checkout page and the difference is about 69 USD from additional additional surcharge/fees and taxes. If this is their shot of trying to trick customers to pay more if they don't check their reservation it's pretty bad.
Why can this happen and did anyone experience this before?
Update: Called AVIS and was informed that they will honor the quote that I paid for ONLY when the rental is complete. Will update on the final charge when the rental is complete.
