Last night I was watching the magical fountains at Montjuic and I left my backpack on the floor to leave more room for other people on the bench.
Two guys (someone got them on camera) took advantage of me being distracted to steel the backpack. I lost sun glasses, multiple credit cards, and multiple IDs and driving licenses (I am binational) and some cash.
I managed to block my cards before any big loss (they used one my cards to pay for a 15€ thing), and my passeports weren't in the backpack so I will be able to fly back home without issue to day.
I feel awful, the backpack was a father's day gift, and getting new IDs is a pain in the butt.
But my main frustration is with myself. I feel so dumm. I am generally quite aware of my surroundings and I've almost never been pickpocketed before. Seeing the video of me being distracted watching the water works and the guys subtlety taking my backpack makes me so angry at myself.
Be watchful, guys, don't be like me.
