It bothers me how many Mexicans look down on Mexico City. For example, when an American says Mexico City is awesome, there's always a Mexican who responds that it's not true, that the American only thinks that because he doesn't leave Roma and Condesa. But objectively, Mexico City is a great city.
.
It has great public transportation. I understand that it may be dirty or dangerous in some areas, but go live in Houston, Dallas, or Phoenix without a car so you can appreciate how good public transportation is in Mexico City. They also have tons of first-class museums, art galleries, historic archaeological sites, beautiful parks, including one larger than Central Park in New York, live music venues with local bands, stadiums with concerts by the world's biggest artists, and unique Mexican entertainment like lucha libre. Plus a food stand in every corner.
.
But I know It's hard to understand if you've never lived in an American suburb where there aren't even sidewalks to walk on, why many of us fall in love with Mexico City
