Everyone thought my husband and I were mad for traveling to the UK this time of year. But coming from Southern California, it's a treat for us to experience actual cold weather. Our attitude was that the grey and gloom seemed like an authentically British experience.
We were only in town for one whole day, one night. There were no crowds. For us, the rain and cold added to the ambience. We explored for most of the day and then pub crawled into the evening. The pubs were a cozy refuge. The scouse and fish and chips were like a warm hug. And the people! Liverpudlians/Scousers are SO friendly. It was easy striking up conversations with strangers in the pubs and out in the streets. Everyone we encountered was welcoming and helpful. They have a great sense of humor too.
I'm in love with this city. Can't wait to return.
