Lake Bled and Laghi di Fusine

We went on a road trip from Germany to spend the weekend at Lake Bled, Slovenia.

The road goes through Austria and is amazing in itself, with views of the Alps and a quick stop at Salzburg, Mozart's city.

We also stopped at Laghi di Fusine, in Italy, which is a surprising 15 minutes drive from our destination.

The color of the lake is stunning, by far the most beautiful one we saw, but you can't go in and there's no swimming area, just an overpriced bar.

We chose to have lunch in the town and grab a gelato. Since it's a small and not very touristy city, everything is really cheap. At the restaurants, a glass of wine went for €1.50 and an amazing carbonara for €11.

After that, we stopped by the lake in Kranjska Gora.
In comparison, it's not as pretty and it was PACKED.
The view is nice because of the Alps in the background, but even so, it's not worth it.

Slovenia, on the other hand, surprised me in the best way.
The summer vibe in Bled is wonderful, lots of restaurants with reasonable prices.
I didn't get the sense that they were hiking prices for tourists.

Plenty of people out on the streets, but not overcrowded. There are little shops that run into the evening with local crafts, food, and music. For anyone into adventure, you can go paragliding, rafting, there's ziplining and stand-up paddleboarding.

You can rent a little boat and row out to the small church on an island in the middle of the lake, for €15 per person.

Oh, and every place we went was extremely pet friendly!
We saw plenty of dogs even inside restaurants.
