This was one of the destinations I visited on my two week Japan trip in March 2025 and it is truly an amazing place. I spent a weekend here practicing meditation and learning about Japan’s Buddhist culture. The town lies 800m above sea level on Mount Kōya. This gem is an hour and a half by train from Osaka and I would truly recommend adding this small town to your itinerary.
