Just wanted to share an experience because I currently have no one else to tell.
It was 11pm and I was sleeping in my hostel bed, I had my eye mask on and ear buds in. I wake up to two people (a girl and guy) who have opened my curtain and are trying to wake me up/searching around my bed. The girl said she had slept in this bed the night before and had lost her shorts and running belt and needed to find them. The guy was a hostel worker, he looked awkward and kind of apologised but the girl kept insisting that I check all through the bed. I half asleep and only half dressed started looking down the side of the bed but couldn’t find anything. I asked if the running belt had anything valuable in it like passport, money etc, she said no. She said the running belt was empty but she just wanted to find it and her shorts. She insisted I get out of the bed and she search for it (mind you all my stuff is on my bed including clothes, bag, wallet). The hostel worker just let her rummage through my bed. Has anyone ever had something similar happen. Would anyone else who’s stayed in a hostel bother waking somebody else up during the night just to get a pair of shorts and running belt which I’m sure would be easy to replace- I as somebody who has lost many things travelling would have just accepted the were lost and not bothered?
I’ve stayed in many hostels through the years but never had or heard of this ever happening. Unsure how to feel other than annoyed and tired.
