Guadalajara is a very underrated city. The Centro Histórico area was beautiful. The Colonia Americana neighborhood was full of old mansions, cafes, galleries, restarants and bars. The food scene was delicious and the people were very friendly. Though it’s not as “international” as Mexico City it has a lot to offer.
Speaking some Spanish will also get you a long way but if you are able to think on your feet and use Google translate you’ll get by.
