Everyone said there isnt much to see in Brunei

September 4-5, 2026

And I believe they were right.

In the capital city, the 2 main mosques sure are impressive, and the water village is an interesting visit too if you haven’t seen one before, but aside from some wild animals on the river or in the Tasek Lama Park, that’s about it.

I’ve heard Brunei described as the most boring country in the world, and I wonder how much more there is to see outside the capital. That said, if you have a spare day or two during your Southeast Asia trip and like to “check off” new countries, it might be worth a visit. Just don’t expect too much. Also, try to avoid visiting on Fridays if you can - due to weekly prayers, most places are partially or entirely closed.
