After having visited Murcia, I rushed to get to Cartagena. The day did not go as I planed - the flight arrived with a two hour delay and a credit card mix up delayed me a hour more - so I arrived in the city almost at 5pm. I was not able to visit many indoor places as they were almost all closed by that time, but was gifted by Cartagena with a beautiful golden hour for outdoor exploration.
I had less than 2 hours before sunset, and still had to get some groceries and cook dinner, so I walked like a complete maniac - that day ended up with more than 32000 steps and a fibular tendinitis that got to be my faithful companion for the rest of the trip.
Loved this city from beginning to end. Easy access to the beach, chilled city centre, beautiful architecture (clearly reminiscent of the times the city was rich, and politically and militarily crucial) and a rugged terrain that always delivers the best light and shade play and viewpoints.
