Amazing few days in Quito

I spent 5 days in Quito in January. Absolutely amazing city, rich in history and Spanish architecture and interspersed with Andean culture. The people are warm and friendly, obviously very proud of their country and eager to show you more about it. It’s a little tough to sleep, given we’re 9,500 feet above sea level, and you feel exhausted if you’re walking fast. Nevertheless, I really appreciated the culture, coffee, and chocolate. A few sights and sounds.

  1. View from Teleferico, where you get a view of the entire city

  2. An Andean and two llamas

  3. Rose window

  4. Basilica del Voto Nacional

  5. Church of the Society of Jesus

  6. Middle of the world, where the latitude is precisely

  7. View from one of the hills

  8. Local crafts, depicting Ecuadorian and Andean culture

  9. A coffee shop in Downtown Quito

  10. Carondelet Palace, where the president of Ecuador lives

  11. A procession celebrating the baptism of Jesus
