Advice - One week in Portugal in March

Hi everyone,

Me and my girlfriend are travelling to Portugal next week (short notice, had to cancel our original plans). Overall we will stay one week, we are flying to Lisbon, where we will spend the first 3 nights and are flying back from Porto, where we spend the last 2 nights.

We essentially have two remaining nights in between, so we would love to use the opportunity to explore some nice towns and areas, ideally in the northern direction, not necessarily on the route, could even be to the east or in the Porto area.

I have thought of places like Braga or Guimaraes, or even the area around Nazare, but not sure if small towns in March are better suited for day trips, rather than overnight stays, if they are quite empty.

What do you think and would you have any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!
