8 days trip to Alicante, Spain in July 2026

My short 8 day trip to Alicante, Spain. Went there to mainly spend time with friends and catch some sun.
July in this part of Spain is HOT! I do not recommend to travel there in July if you cannot handle +35C or more. Our trip was from 22nd July to 29th July. We stayed in Airbnb 10min by walk from Platja de La Mata beach. Accommodation was a bit expensive as we booked this trip pretty much last minute and we paid 850€ for 7 nights, we lived in a spacious 2 bedroom apartment. We had a car there (not rented, so no idea about renting prices), and that's most definitely the best transport option to explore costal area, however not very easy to find a spot to park.

We stayed on the outskirts of Torrevieja, Torre La Mata district, which is province of Alicante. We made a few day trips into Alicante city centre, including Santa Barbara Castle. You can either hike up the hill or take an elevator, which costs few euros. The elevator experience going up was honestly pretty awful, the tunnel where people queue had very poor ventilation, and the queue was quite long when we arrived. I genuinely thought I was going to pass out and regretted not hiking up instead. Views from the top were beautiful, tho.

During the day city centre felt safe, with many tourists and local people, but at night I would be careful and definitely wouldn't recommend for solo female travelers to explore Alicante at night. It's fine with a group of friends.

Mirador del Far de Santa Pola I do highly recommend if you're obsessed with sunsets. Honestly, one of the best sunset spots I've been to.

As you can probably tell, there are quite a few night photos because we explored some places after dark to escape the extreme heat and slept during the day instead.
