Hello! I am looking for some feedback on my family’s Portugal two-week itinerary in February (hopefully we get a bit of sunshine!). It will be myself, my partner and our 2 year old toddler. We like a mixture of activities including hikes, eating tasty new foods, checking out historical sights (in small doses until our toddler gets bored). We welcome any feedback on this itinerary. For parents out there, if you have any playground recommendations or other 2-year old friendly activities that would be great!
Day 1: We will be landing late at night in Lisbon and renting a car then staying at a hotel near the airport.
Day 2: Drive North to Guimaraes in the morning. We are thinking of stopping to check out Obidos on our way up and maybe Nazare if the big waves are on.
Day 3-4: Stay in Guimaraes. Relax and get over the jet lag and make some short day trips in the area including to Braga.
Day 5-6: Leave our car in Guimaraes and take the train to Porto. Check out Porto for a couple of days.
Day 7: Train back to Guimaraes in the morning, pick up the car and make our way South. Our next destination is Lagos, but we probably want to break up the long drive by staying somewhere overnight. Any suggestions for an interesting place to stay for one night roughly halfway to Lagos? We were considering Tomar.
Day 8-11: Stay in Lagos. Do some day trips and short hikes in the Algarve. Thinking of visiting Sagres area, Silves and doing a portion of the 7 hanging valleys trail.
Day 12-15: Drive back to Lisbon, return car to airport, train into city. Check out Lisbon for a couple of days, probably a day trip to Sintra. Maybe visit the aquarium and try to get tickets for the Benfica match.
Day 16: Fly home from Lisbon.
Thank you!
